Noah Gould is an American painter and hat maker living and working in Aptos, California. He grew up in a rural setting on fifteen acres, where he had ample space to explore nature and the limits of his imagination.
He earned his BFA from Otis College of Art and Design and later attended the MFA program at Parsons The New School for Design in New York.
Gould describes his painting practice as Momentism. Each work begins simply by starting—placing paint on the surface without a fixed outcome in mind. He avoids excessive preconceived ideas, believing they diminish the immediacy and excitement of creation.
For Gould, art is a spiritual act. It evokes a sense of reverence, a feeling that something meaningful is taking place. This moment does not end when the painting is finished or the paint has dried; instead, it continues to unfold with each viewing, amplifying the original experience and generating new feelings, insights, and inspiration.
