Kalief Porter Brown creates work where graffiti, surrealism, and abstraction collide. Rooted in memory, movement, and transformation, his practice draws inspiration from his father’s hand-drawn birthday cards, the raw freedom of early hip-hop graffiti, and the life lessons passed down by his parents. Studies at City College of San Francisco further shaped his belief that art is a powerful form of expression.
Working primarily in watercolor and acrylic, Brown blends social awareness with graffiti energy, surrealism, and abstraction. Guided by the philosophy that there are no rules in art, he creates work that invites viewers to connect through emotion—believing that if a piece makes you feel something, it has meaning.
