Hybrid

Jack Herer was created in the Netherlands in the mid-1990s by Sensei Seeds and named after the cannabis activist and author of The Emperor Wears No Clothes, as a tribute to his legalization work. The strain went on to win multiple Cannabis Cup awards and was even distributed by Dutch pharmacies as a recognized medical-grade strain. That’s a level of legitimacy few strains from that era have managed to hold onto.
Here’s a quick snapshot of the Jack Herer strain:
Type: Hybrid strain (55% sativa, 45% indica)
THC Range: Typically 15%–24%
Dominant Terpenes: Terpinolene, Caryophyllene, and Pinene
Aroma: Piney and peppery with an earthy, slightly spicy finish
The name lives up to the legend behind it. A Haze hybrid crossed with Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk, Jack Herer was bred to combine strong genetics with heavy resin production, and the buds show it.
The strain tends to grow tall with dense, resin-coated buds with bright green hues often threaded with rusty orange pistils and a heavy, frosty trichome coating, the kind of visuals that match its reputation as a top-shelf classic.
THC typically ranges between 15% and 24%, with potency oscillating depending on the specific batch and breeder. If you’re new to Jack Herer or cannabis in general, start with less than you think you need, and give it time before reaching for more.
