Compassion Program provides free cannabis products to expand access to medical cannabis patients
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — July 31, 2026 — The Artist Tree announced today that it is expanding its Compassion Care Program to its Dixon dispensary, making free cannabis products available to qualifying medical cannabis patients and military veterans in the local community.
The Dixon location joins The Artist Tree’s West Hollywood, Fresno and Laguna Woods dispensaries in offering the program, which was created to help reduce the financial barriers that can prevent patients from accessing cannabis for medicinal use.
The Artist Tree developed its Compassion Program in 2025 to reflect the company’s deep roots in medical cannabis. Nearly 20 years ago, the company’s founders opened some of Los Angeles’ earliest medical cannabis dispensaries after helping their grandmother obtain cannabis during her treatment for stomach cancer. Since then, The Artist Tree has remained committed to increasing access to cannabis and promoting the medical and therapeutic uses of the plant.

Qualifying medical cannabis patients can receive complimentary cannabis products intended for a variety of medicinal needs, including extracts, tinctures, flower, pre-rolls, edibles and topicals.

The program is available to California medical cannabis patients with a valid Medical Marijuana Identification Card or physician’s recommendation, as well as military veterans who are also qualified medical patients. Eligible participants must present valid identification and documentation of their medical status when registering.

The Artist Tree also has a long history of supporting community organizations and charitable initiatives, including grants to the Boys & Girls Club, , Feeding America, and California Community Foundation, local blood drives, Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts, and partnerships with numerous other nonprofit organizations that serve vulnerable populations.
