The Artist Tree Brings Its Acclaimed California Cannabis Dispensary to the East Coast, With Plans to Open Long Island’s Largest Dispensary in Farmingdale, New York
The experiential cannabis retailer known for blending art, events, and premium cannabis brings its award-winning concept to Long Island this October
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (August 2026) — The Artist Tree, California’s premier cannabis dispensary and community art space, today announced its first East Coast location, opening in Farmingdale, New York this October. The expansion marks a major milestone for the brand, which has built a loyal following across California by pairing premium cannabis products with rotating art installations from local artists.
The Artist Tree has become one of California’s most recognizable cannabis retailers by transforming dispensaries into welcoming cultural destinations. Rather than focusing solely on transactions, each location celebrates creativity through rotating art installations, thoughtfully designed retail spaces, educational shopping experiences, and community-driven events that make cannabis approachable. The Artist Tree Farmingdale will operate as a local art gallery, with quarterly exhibits highlighting Long Island’s vibrant artist community. All art will be for sale, and 100% of art sale proceeds go directly back to the artists.
“New York represents one of the most exciting cannabis markets in the country, and we’re delighted to introduce The Artist Tree experience to Long Island,” said Lauren Fontein, co-founder of The Artist Tree. “We’ve always believed a dispensary can be more than a place to purchase cannabis, it can be a place where people connect with their community, discover local artists, and feel welcomed regardless of their level of cannabis experience. We’re excited to bring that vision from California to New York.”
The new Farmingdale location will offer:
- A curated menu of premium cannabis flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, edibles, beverages, tinctures, and wellness products from New York’s leading licensed brands.
- A welcoming, design-forward retail environment inspired by The Artist Tree’s California locations.
- Knowledgeable cannabis specialists who provide personalized recommendations and education.
- Rotating art installations featuring local artists work; artists get to keep 100% of their commissions
“California taught us that consumers want more than a transaction—they want an experience,” said Fontein. “We’re looking forward to bringing that philosophy east and becoming part of Farmingdale’s thriving and creative community.”
The Farmingdale location, at 900 Broadhollow Rd Farmingdale, NY 11735, will offer in-store shopping and express pick up, with further details on hours and initial product offerings to be announced closer to the opening date. The Grand Opening celebration will be held in mid-October, with a soft opening occurring in late September. Locals interested in attending can sign up for VIP access to the Grand Opening, and receive a limited edition commemorative tote bag, with any purchase. Learn more, and sign up here.
